Reflect

Denver was amazing! This was one of the best years we have ever had. The 14 hour drive up there went really well despite the fact that Kansas gets more boring everytime you drive through it. We made it up there on Saturday and had the evening to relax. Sunday we went to church and got to go out into the community and do some door to door. That was an experience for all of us. We broke up into groups of three and started talking to strangers. We survived around 50 houses but only 8 people came to the door. I find that odd because if I did this in my town we would have a lot more than 17% of the people come to the door. This was an eye opener mainly because the questions we were asking did involve religion and we knew we would get some negative responses. For the most part we had a good turn out. Its very sad to see all the people though that have such a bad veiw for the church. Monday we did landscaping. We did the biggest yard that we have ever done in Denver. We had a blast though! I also went to a home and helped a family try to reorganize their garage. That was a lot of fun as well. Tuesday we had to finish our landscaping but got to finish the day off at the park. We had a blast! We got to have a barbecue and play in the park for a few hours. Wednesday we had to rise and shine way too early if you ask me. We were awake by around 5:30 and hit the streets. We passed out breakfast to all the people headed to work. We made around 1000 breakfast and put them into a little bag and hit the street corners and started knocking on car windows. Most of the reactions are shocked because they cant believe a group of kids would be doing this and they cant believe they are getting a FREE breakfast. Some people can be incredibly rude but the majority of the people are very generous. Its a great out reach tool and a nice thing to do for people. We finished that at around 8 and headed to the mountains! This was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen in my whole life. We had to hike for around an hour to get to our final destination. There was tons of waterfalls to see along our hike. Once we finally got to the top there was beautiful glaciers and a lake! We stayed there for about 4 hours and had such a good time. I loved it and cant wait to go back. We got to go sledding down the glacier and spend a great day bonding witht the team. Thursday we did some work around the school that we stayed at and went to the pastors house to help him organize his garage. That night we got to go to the 16th street mall! This is one of my favorite activities that we do. I love seeing all the sky scrapers and being down town. The atmosphere is amazing and there is tons of shopping to do! That is the best part! Friday we went to Water World! We spent hours riding rides and spent tons of time in the wave pool. That night we had a pool/block party which was a blast. We had a great time and got to see a lot of new people come and show interest in the church. That night we had our lock in before we made our 14 hour journey back home. Thank you for praying for us and Im looking forward to what the next years hold for us.

  1. I am so glad you had a great time and very proud you are letting God use you and equip you for greater things. I did notice though, there is no mention of how much you missed your mom on your trip - mmmmm.... Love you!
